Why should I have a workstation assessment / ergonomics evaluation / ergo eval?

We can spend between 8 to 12 hours a day sitting at the same desk. The repetitive nature of our work and prolonged sitting can cause aches and pains which, in time, can impact on our daily activities and require medical intervention.

What to expect from a workplace assessment?

Firstly, brief background information is gathered to understand if you have any aches, pains or conditions that may impact your work. Next, we find out about your typical work day to understand your computer/work demands. After this, we assess your current setup and use ergonomic and anthropometric theory to recommend adjustments to improve your setup using the equipment/furniture that is already in place. We will discuss with you the importance of ergonomics at work and using devices on the move and at home and, where required and with knowing what is available, we may recommend the use of ergonomics accessories and can assist with procurement where required.

What follow up support is available after the assessment?

Follow up contact is made after a set period (usually two weeks) to ensure that the new setup is meeting your needs and find out if any further active ergonomics support is required.


  • What if we have specific furniture or equipment we want used by our employees?
  • What if we have employees sharing spaces i.e. hot desk model?
  • Can you do evaluations of meeting rooms or standing stations?
  • What if the employee has queries or is having issues after the evaluation?
  • Can an evaluation be arranged to address a specific issue that an employee is experiencing?

This is all identified and agreed upon prior to completing evaluations with employees. We will work with you to identify what furniture and equipment is already available. We work with each individual employee to improve the setup of what they currently have. Where required and previously agreed, we may make equipment recommendations.

This is not a problem! We educate the employee on how to set up the workspace for their own requirements. This will mean the employee has the tools to adapt their own space as required.

Yes! We can do this and work with each employee to ensure that they know how best to set up the space for their own personal use. This could also be covered in a group education session.

We follow up with each employee 2 weeks post completing the evaluation. We can go through any issues via email or decide if further input is required.

Yes! We start our evaluations by discussing any specific concerns or issues that the employee has. From there, we find out about the employees work routine, and go through a detailed assessment of each piece of furniture and equipment that the employee uses.
